Renal Stone Prevention
- Avoid all caffeine intake
- Drink sufficient amounts of water to have the urine remain clear like tap water.
Hypertension Treatment Diet (Low Sodium Diet)
- Avoid Soft Drinks
- Avoid Dill pickles
- Avoid Potato Chips
- Minimize condiments like Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salad dressing other than oil and vinegar homemade, ketchup
Vegetables:
- Use Fresh Vegetable if possible
- Frozen Vegetable should be a second choice
- Finally canned vegetables should be rinsed with tap water 1st and then cooked in tap water.
Alcohol: MEN - No more than 1 ounce of alcohol or 2 glasses of wine or 2
beers per day.
WOMEN - ½ ounce of alcohol, 1 glass of wine, or 1 beer per day.
Low Fat Diet:
- Avoid Red Meats (all meats are red meats except for fish, chicken, and turkey).
- Avoid Shellfish (shrimp, scallops, oysters)
- No Fried foods
- Use Olive Oil for cooking
- Avoid any oil that is a solid at room temperature
- Bake, grill, or broil meats
- Milk should be no more than 2% fat & preferably skim milk.
Elevated Cholesterol treatment Recommendations:
- Low fat diet
- At least 4000mg a day of over the counter fish oil
- At least 30-45 minutes a day of low impact aerobic exercise like walking, riding a stationary bike, using a stair stepper or elliptical machine, using a rowing machine or swimming; before beginning the exercise regimen get a physical done by your doctor.

Weight Loss recommendations:
- Do not drink Calories
- Avoid eating any Fried Foods.
- Get 45-60 minutes a day low impact Aerobic exercise (see examples under low impact aerobic examples).
- Do Not Skip Breakfast
- Eat the least processed version of whatever food eaten; such as, whole wheat bread instead of white bread, brown or wild rice rather than white rice, whole wheat pasta rather than regular pasta.
- Healthy Snacking – Raw fruits or Veggies (No dips)
- No Alcohol
- Keep a daily food intake diary.
- Avoid 2nds, 3rds or deserts.

- Low fat diet
- 30-45 minutes of low impact aerobic exercise regimen and get a physical exam done by your physician prior to beginning the exercise regimen
- Avoid tobacco products.
Diabetes Treatment Guidelines:
Get as close as possible to your ideal body weight

- Attend diabetic education classes
- Annual Diabetic eye exam by an eye specialist who knows that you have diabetes.
- Always wear closed shoes; no bare feet and no open toed shoes; only time you are barefooted is in the tub or in the bed. Even when swimming, use covered shoes.
- Examine your feet every day and see your doctor if you find any sores or wounds on a foot or ankle.
- 30-40 min a day of low impact aerobic exercise and get physical exam by your doctor before starting the regimen.
- Follow your doctor’s medication recommendations.
- Keep your scheduled office visit appointments.
- Unless contra indicated get a flu vaccine every year and a pneumonia vaccine every 5 years.
- Avoid Alcohol and tobacco products.
- Monitor your blood glucose as directed by your doctor
